Initiated as a Programme of Computational Science under the Faculty of Science in 1991, the programme has grown and enlarged as a full-fledged Department in 1996. Our department is truly unique. We are one of the very few Universities in the world that has a department in computational science and offer computational science major at undergraduate level.
There are currently over 200 undergraduate students and 22 postgraduate students. While expected to grow, the department is small, consisting of seven academic staff members, three teaching assistants, and some technical and administrative supporting staff. The academic staff is supplemented by adjunct lecturers from other departments to support the teaching of the courses. Our staff members are of very high quality. They are vibrant, young, hard-working. They are dedicated to teaching and research. Many of their research work are world class and are well-known in their respective fields. Some of the work have applied for patents.
